Kyudo is different from Western archery in many ways, mainly in that the focus of kyudo is not to shoot arrows to get them closer to the center of the target.
Kyudo is not only a sport, but also a way to develop the mind and spirit. By shooting correctly with a virtuous spirit, beautiful shooting and hitting will occur naturally.
There are many schools of kyudo that emphasize different aspects of it, and there are many different styles as well.
Kyudo is not practiced in many middle schools for safety reason, so often people would join kyudo clubs in high school. However, there are some middle schools that do give kyudo education.
